new automation

Has anybody found a use for the new automation the most ive done is make a door pump with the signal distributor signal selector and a timer but thats pretty basic and was a problem not needing to be solved as the old version of a couple of filters and buffers im pretty sure was smaller and works just fine

im mostly interested in the selector and distributor

i know someone is working on a processor that takes up the entire map

Currently i`m exploring ideas to use 4 bit display. Having multiple smart batteries set to different thresholds connected to a series of those can make a nice visual battery charge level indicator. You can also make a thermometer but it`s not perfect as you can`t put multiple sensors in one tile. Also a visual power consumed indicator works (there`s a design floating somewhere).

I also made a lot of warning systems with the automated notifiers: Low fuel warnings, low water warnings, meteor storm warning - not really needed but a notification helps determining when is the longer break between storms. You can also use a counter to see how many cycles passed since the last storm.

Haha that's actually a very nice idea about batteries.
And yes, notifiers are super good. They are constantly saving my base and avoiding  horrible cleanups.

The distributor can, for example, replace several AND gates. In the screenshot are circuits that check which tank has the cooler liquid; the left and the middle, which are working the same way. In this case it is not incredibly smaller but a bit more sorted.

As for the selector, here is a case that was posted a while ago.

I like having visual indicators too ! I just finished to put some pixel packs around my battery bank.

8 bits for battery charge, i'm thinking about going to 12 for more precision

12 bits for power consumption

3 bits for which power source is on (nat gas, petroleum and coal)

The only thing missing is having something about my solars and turbines, doable for solar panels if i put them in a separate grid, harder for all the scattered steam turbines.

Still with one look at those i know what's going on power wise in my whole base.
