lee1026
Creating a masterpiece should take a really long time. For example, have the base speed be 3 cycles. Obviously, to balance this, we will need masterpieces to give a lot more decor. This will have several benefits: masterpieces will mean more, and players won't be able to spam them everywhere. Players will be forced about thinking carefully where they want them. Dupes with an interest in creative will finally be meaningful, as they will be able to create a lot more art work. pether
Great monument works like this - it is not easy to create, and you cannot have plenty of them everywhere. But I agree that spamming the same thing everywhere should not be worth as much as now. Maybe a tile should accept decor bonus from only one building of its kind. So only one bonus from painting, only one from flowers etc.
Meltdown
Maybe we could limit amount of masterpieces for each type of decor item that could present in colony? There is a finite number of visual apperiances for them. How about forcing each masterpiece to have unique one and not allowing to create new ones if the list is exhausted? Making them some kind of "resource" that should be used wisely. Anyway, you can easily achieve maximum decor with just metal tiles, so I don't think tweaking masterpieces would be enought to make decor management harder.
