My geothermal energy Set up

Recommended Posts

I would like to share my very typical turbine / magma setup for extracting the power energy:

As you can see, I got a problem. The left and middle turbine is not fully operating. I set the temperature sensor to open the gate at 210C.

The temperature dropped to about 150C under the Left turbine. So i think the tempshift is not efficient enough. Originally i used granite tempshift. Then i changed to Lead Tempshift. the temperature under Left turbine only increased by about 10C.

Anyone know how to fix this uneven heat issue? (Actually I got it fixed at the following day, just treat this as a small quiz for people to think.)

@Dosephshih The first thing you should do is move the vent to drip on the diamond heat plate and have a layer of petrol or oil on the floor to prevent the heat deleting bug.

If that isn’t enogh you might want to increase the steam pressure and have conducive tiles across the floor.

Forget tempshift plates.  They take 800kg to make and only help the heat spread from steam to steam, which is why you get colder steam the further you get from the diamond windows.  Expand the top diamond window layer all the way across to the left.  That will work much better for keeping the heat even.

That is the solution what I think of.

The power of each turbine become balanced quickly.

However, after some cycles, another power happen, the left side steam become over heated to 300C.

Finally, i add one more sensor.

Both left side and Right of the chamber drop below 200C will made the gate closing.

I think this set up is very straight forward and simple, but i am amazed by the game that somethings may go wrong out of your expectation in a build. It need to think any possible scenarios and put in solutions. Just like in real life engineering in some dimensions.

Why have you got the AT on top of mesh tiles? As someone else said, it is probably better to have a thin layer of petrol on the floor and have the fluid outlet in the same tile as the petrol. The petrol is a good conductor across the entire floor and spreads the heat from your AT and thermal block very well, and it also prevents a heat deletion bug by having the outlet in the same tile as a liquid.

The mesh tile serve no function, I just put it as an equipment rack. (Looks natural to me)

i heard about the bug too, I just .... too lazy to do that and try to balance the even heat distribution by other means, haha! Thank you!
