Wheezewort 'consuming vacuum'

Recommended Posts

I don't quite understand what causes the 'consuming vacuum' status on wheezeworts and what it actually does (does it have any affect on cooling?).

I've set up wheezeworts dozens of different ways in real game and in sandbox, every pressure, open rooms, closed setups, planters and 'au-natural', and everything I could think of.  And every time within a little while the 'consuming vacuum' status pops up...

What's the deal with wheezeworts?

Vacuum in is treated as a gas by the game. I can't remember the specific reasoning behind it, but i believe it was performance related. If i were to hazard a guess, I'd say the wheeze tries to consume the vacuum it itself creates when sucking in gas for cooling. As long as it's working (you see gas move around it) it shouldn't be an issue and should keep cooling normally.

I usually only see the "consuming vacuum" in lower pressure situations.

Mainly, when I'm filling a room with gas for the first time or when I have 3 or more wheezeworts next to each other without mesh/airflow tiles under them to help gas "move" back to the ones in the middle.

Doesn't seem to hurt the efficiency but it's an annoyance I prefer to avoid.

Note: The consuming vacuum warning will stay until a reload even after you "fix" this issue that caused the initial display of the warning.
