Corpserule
I launched the final rocket to the termporal tear, and have finished the statue. With both initiatives done, is my game technically "finished"? The rocket will take 49.1 cycles to arrive though. But seriously, since my computer wont run the game at triple speed and i have to monitor it to get double speed, that's literally many hours before I can confirm if i'm done. So am I finished, does anything happen if i when the rocket arrives. we're literally talking a 10+ hour wait or so for me to confirm. So i'd rather ask rather than figure out how to best idle my colony Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/112254-endgame-question/ Share on other sites

KittenIsAGeek
You can certainly claim to be done after reaching one or more of the victory objectives. But that doesn't have to be the case. You can keep going, or you can quit when you think your base has achieved some sort of nirvana. ONI is quite literally a sandbox simulation that you can do whatever you like with. The points are made up and the ... wait, that's "Who's Line." Um.. Anyway! The point I'm making is that success or failure is something you define for yourself. @mathmanicanloves to throw it into sandbox mode and find new ways to abuse the game's physics model. Its not a door, its a vacuum-sealed thermal conductor unit! Me? I like to start on a challenging map and work until I have a stable base. Or I like to challenge myself. My current Rime base is passing cycle 300 without using anything other than hydrogen and hamster-wheel power. Though I _did_ just build a couple of steam turbines... Anyway, if there's something you'd like to do, go for it! If you think you're done and want to start new, then do it! BLACKBERREST3
I like to make a lot of different builds that use the game's mechanics in strange ways. A lot of the time, stuff that you build in the game exists in real life and I find those to be a fun read. If you want to know some more intricacies about the game to make your own exploits and builds, there are a lot of threads on the forum oriented towards just that. In general, games don't last forever, it's all about how much enjoyment you get out of it. If you feel that you want to take a break or keep going, that is all up to you. I'm currently learning more on combinatorics because this game has pushed me to do so. Spoiler post comment; Yeah, that's considered beaten by me at least, you could just watch the cutscene on youtube instead of waiting for it to arrive. Speaking of which, I could only find the "home" achievement cutscene. Does anyone know where to find the other one? I already know about the mod that adds cutscenes back to the game, but I'd rather have the youtube vid. Corpserule
thanks for answering. My colony was kinda in a spot where I didn't really want to continue it anymore, i screwed up my bio-automation (duplicant lack of doors in late game) and kinda wanted to say "i beat this world, i want a new colony". plus i just wanted to see some other worlds, rather than getting caught on the ideal world forever.
