Thermogenesis and food consumption

Recommended Posts

Oh fascinating! I never saw there was a kcal tie to homeostasis!

I noticed a long time ago that dupes used homeostasis to regulate their internal temp. I once toyed with the idea of keeping a large number of dupes uncomfortably hot, hoping they would all absorb heat and reduce it through the magic of homeostasis, making for a slow acting cooling effect. That was before steam turbines and rockets to get more wheezeworts, and I was curious if it was possible to manage heat without the toilet loop exploit. Never got around to trying it though.

So theoretically that homeostatsis calorie consumption would go up if the dupes were cold (and probably hot too, since they don't have a thirst mechanic). I suppose keeping the dupes comfortable would keep food requirements down.
