Flawed rocket mechanics?

Recommended Posts

After testing so many setups, I can't figure out a reliable way to save my gantry from taking damage. Even retracted gantry takes damage, shouldn't it be indestructible? When your rocket is landing, there's no way to ensure that an iron comet won't hit your gantry. In the first image, the gantry is retracted and as far under bunker tiles as possible and yet an iron comet would still damage it. wth?

In the second image, a regolith comet penetrated a wall and disabled my scanner. I just don't know how i can prevent that, even doubling the wall wouldn't help. I previously thought that meteors could penetrate through corners if the corner tile was missing but this case is entirely nuts.

Also anyone else find the chunks of iron that stick to the walls really irritating?

There are several things you should consider:

1. one row of bunker tiles is not enough. There is still a bug, causing meteors penetrating one row. You need double rows. We hope they fix it with release version.

2. Meteors can strike diagonaly.

3. use bunker doors to seal the upper opening of your launch system.

This can ensure, you dont take damage at idle, or when you start your rocket when no meteors are raining down.

The only problem would be then, the rocket retuns in a meteor storm. There is no good solution for this yet, because you cant delay rocket return.

But there´s a mod on steam with meteor defense laser. Its not perfect, but it gets the job done.

For the gantry issue, if it doesn't overstep your playstyle limits, you can forget them opened and broken (disable repair). It will still be usable by astronauts.

Mines are permanently deployed, destroyed & usable at the same time.

Didn't know about 1 but yeah i know/already do 2 and 3. Just seems a bit frustrating that there is not legit way to protect the gantries. I only ever use qol mods but yeah i'll definitely looks into the laser defense one. Thank you!

yeah gonna have to do that. feels a bit cheaty since i'll be saving the 1200w power but there's really no other way barring mods.
