nets
Going into space biome with transit tubes, is there a way to guarantee no shove voles escaping through the breach hole for the transit tube? I need some way to prevent gas leak, shove vole leak and still tube all the way up to my gantry mid-way station. Any thoughts?
Nightinggale
You need two rooms, one for voles and one for the transit tube. Connect the rooms with a door. That should make a vole and gas proof seal around the voles.
WanderingKid
Split the voles and the tube with a door or two.
nets
I was more worried about any free roaming voles escaping down the map than having voles and ranching, but i guess the answer is the same; That there is no way of blocking voles and run tubes to the space biome. I was hoping something a long the lines of some way to trick a metal tile or door over the tube. Does anyone know if Voles burrow through liquid tiles? I could easily spare some petroleum and run the tubes through that.
PhailRaptor
I believe they can only jump a 1 tile wide gap, so you could use a Ladder bridge. Build your tiles 2 apart, and at least 2 deep -- cut away the rest. Then use 2 Ladders to bridge the gap. Dupes will be able to cross, Voles will not. Surround the Vole side with Steel or harder metal and you're good. Although, for all that effort, it would be simpler to just do the Pneumatic Door option, made from Steel so they can't tunnel through them.
