Neotuck
You can also plant wheezie under the farm tiles for extra cooling, you can control the temp by building the pots on top of mech doors controlled by a temp sensor. I do this for my sleet wheat farms. The water goes in at an even 12C (water sieve and two aquatuners). Dispite the temp being 7 degrees warmer than what sleet wheat can tolerate, the wheezies keep them cool. Zerkiaz
I'm thinking to make the water from cool steam vent goes into toilet and sink first, and then the PW go to the sieve.. and I think that kill some of the heat right? and after that using that water from sieve to an aquatuner (submerge in geyser water) and then small space filled with hydrogen (plus wheezewort) to just cool down a little bit more and moving it to bristle. That should be more easy to do? Oh yeah, I also reload my colony and just survive barely and nearly 100 cycle with 6 dupes to save some dirt, and it worked, even I got warning for someone starving every other second. suxkar
Since you are in the early game, imo you have two options with pros and cons: 1) Steam turbine with aquatuner is by far the best, you can cool stuff with no limitation since the turbine will eat all of the aquatuner heat and even produce a bit of energy. The problem is you need a bit of steel for the aquatuner and a bit of plastic for the turbine. Hope you ranched some glossy drekos!I 2) Simply dumping heat into polluted water with an aquatuner is very easy to setup, may be add some automation so nothing overheats or overcools. 1.2kW from the aquatuner and the pumps is a fairly high amount of energy though, you might need to upgrade your main grid either before of after building this. Plus you will need to sieve the polluted water eventually, which will stop the process until you refill the cooling tank and find more polluted water. I have to say though, I agree with neotuck, if you don't have much pwater, water or duplicant time to spare, it's probably just better to ignore the vent and stabilize for the moment. Find another food source and concentrate on developing until you feel a bit more secure. Anyway, ready to give details about either one of the methods if you wish. EDIT: Oh, in case that wasn't clear, you will still need to make the steam liquid first. That is easily done by dumping a bit of water on top of the gayser. Denisetwin
There is of course an exploity way of doing this, I have plenty of water, but am really considering building this for the electricity savings Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/107103-cooling-geyser-water-for-bristle/page/2/#findComment-1206290 Share on other sites
