Updated Air Compressor

Recommended Posts

I've just started playing again since all the QoL updates have come out, and the previous methods of cheap air storage have become obsolete. Air vents now become flooded with anything more than a gram of water (which quickly vanishes when gases come through), and my previous 4-door compressor was performing poorly. I think the gas kept flooding back through.

so heres an updated 5-door version. For simplicity's sake, all the times are 4.1 seconds. (it takes the door 4 seconds to close, and they've updated to have decimals in the automation which is beautiful, so 4.1 just makes sure the door closes).

I have not yet done any side by side tests. I hope people find this useful!

sorry buddy but you're wrong there like @Saturnus said

as long as it's less than 2kg they still work

same for liquid vents (but they can handle more pressure)

I meant kilogram. when I tried 2kg it flooded. But thats moot if the water vanishes when air gets passed through. Even before the QoL updates when you could have like ~100kg it was still liable to vanish on you.

that's why you have a full liquid tile next to it, that prevents the vanishing

here's an example I used for petroleum and natural gas storage

This is how I use a door compressor for gases, it works fine at any pressure.

the top 2 are a bugger/not gate combo, the buffer there is set to 24 seconds, this causes an 'on' blip pulse every 24 seconds.
the atmo sensor isn't needed, but I didn't want the thing to run when it's not necessary.
then it's simply a series of buffer gates, which all go 'ON' except for the last one, as there's a filter gate there. the first buffer in the line is set to 10 seconds to give the gas time to move into the door area, the last door is remains closed due to the filter gate set to 10 seconds as well. So the last door opens when the first one closes, then the other 2 doors close in order, push the gas out and the final door closes and the cycle is complete.
