In rooms like this, it's best to have a filter system in place to remove the O2 and recirculate the chlorine.  Once you reach 2kg of chlorine gas, then the slime should stop venting PO2 and the vent system should be almost redundant.

The reason for the gas conversion is probably due to the puddle of water next to the door while it opens and closes, being at the bottom, it's probably deleting/converting the chlorine as the chlorine can't occupy the space above the puddle.  Or something like this.

Make sure you keep the floor clean of spillages, these puddles help cause gas deletion/conversion.

I have had PO2 off gas from algae distiller even with 5kg of chlorine in the room. I believe some buildings will just of gas no matter what you do. Also anything that can create a vacuum such as a door can cause the off gassing to happen.

In my last game i stored every access CO² from my pet gens, perhaps 5t x 60 tiles.
Released it for fun, was gone in three cycles.

Old days, when something like such a co² burst would happen, everyone died, or maximum stress increase first (sometimes).
