SuperCoolAnt
I like the idea of wild plastic drecos. You need to collect the regular wild drecos and put them all in a room with mealwood. This can be done right from the beginning of the game. Because it does not require large resources - wild drecos eat quite a bit. Gradually they will turn into plastic and can be transferred to a separate room. Plus - the fact that duplicants will not waste time in continuous care for the animals, and don't spend food on them. Minuss - wild drecos grow hair too long. The decision - to breed the drecos through domestication, but then let them become wild. Will it work ? Or tamed drecos just die of hunger ? And if they were put in a room with enough food, would they be able to run wild ? Soulwind
Once tamed, critters never revert to wild. Also they only lay tamed eggs. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/104175-animals-running-wild/#findComment-1169326 Share on other sites
heckubis
the production rates of wild critters is slower. but ranching wild critters isnt hard just never install a grooming station and dont feed the pacu. Drecko will still come to the sheering station just like tamed so its a non issue. they will still slowly migrate to glossy if you feed them meal wood but being wild they dont actually need food other then to change their morph. you can still use a rancher to wrangle and move wild dreckos around either as eggs or as critters when you have the ranchers but if you start your ranch early you should have ranchers about the same time as you start getting glossy dreckos. id seperate them in to a mealwood glossy group and a balm Lilly normal group. the lilly eaters can be your base morph storage so if the worst happens and it shouldnt you can still move some of them back to the plastic ranch and have them slowly repopulate. SuperCoolAnt
1 hour ago, Soulwind said: Once tamed, critters never revert to wild. Also they only lay tamed eggs. That's what i feared. Well at least now new creatures can be printed. But the whole process is very simple and does not require special investments. 26 minutes ago, heckubis said: I understand that. That's what I'm doing. I just want to increase the number of wild animals. Soulwind
You can't, with the exception of printing more. Wild critters don't starve, but they only lay (at most) one egg in their lifetime. What I do is feed, groom, and tame them (all critter types) until I have the populations I want. Then you can stop grooming or even stop feeding (some species like bugs and fish) and let them just maintain themselves. Sometimes I keep full ranches going to maximize production, sometimes I don't .
