Naomi Yuki Posted February 12, 2019 Share Posted February 12, 2019 My base was designed with 2 big ladders at each side going from the button to the top so if a dup was changing elevation it would be easy to track. This worked well for a while but I've ran into an issue on cycle 135. My farm for food and food storage/preparation are all located near the bottom of the base. while medical is located near the top. Due to a recent shortage of power the stairwell is running on low oxygen with some smaller pockets of air and mostly carbon. here's where Sisyphus enters the frame. He was a builder, and contracted slime lung from a long days work. He is resting right now in the med bay complete with its own meal table, and all the usual stuff you'd expect from a med bay. But he is hungry, so he went down to the food quaters to grab some food to take to the medbay meal table, great idea. but then our villian enters the picture; Gravity and Sisyphus lack of grip. 1) Sisyphus tries to climb up the ladder from food to med bay a trip of 32 tiles. 2) having a low air environment but not no air every so often he stops to catch his breath on a barely breathable section 3) stopping to catch his breath his meal drops down to the bottom of the ladder 16 tiles under the food bay 4) As he no longer has food he goes to the bottom to pick it up and tries to climb the 48 tiles to the med bay dinner table. Then the sequence loops between 3 and 4 until he starves to death. Thus my references to Greek myth of Sisyphus. What I'd like changed is simply removing dropping of food when they catch their breath or alternatively having it drop on the ladder instead of all the way to the ground miles below. I'm also not sure if this is working as intended or not, so this may be a bug that Im mistaken for a feature. Sasza22 Posted February 12, 2019 Share Posted February 12, 2019 Ladder dropping loops are annoying. I lost 3 cycles to dupes picking up gold amalgam from bottom of a ladder and dropping it half way on a high priority and getting nothing done. Most of the time it`s about managing the oxygen levels but i wish starving dupes would ignore insufficient oxygen to search for food. Athorough that might lead to dumb deaths of dupes in different scenarios so i`m not sure.
