crbd115
So I had an idea recently, I would like to make a cooling loop for materials using conveyor belts. My only problem for this is there isn't really a conveyor shut off or temp sensor. I know how I could sort of make a temp sensor that might work but it wouldn't be as accurate as having a sensor reading the material on the conveyor belt itself. I have a few ideas that I could do in the meantime but i don't think they are good enough to work consistently. So basically more interaction with conveyor belts would be nice! Neotuck
I did a build that I posted months ago for cleaning pwater by boiling and condensing the steam.(this was before regolith was added) I had used diamonds in a conveyor belt in a loop with a cold room. The temp sensor automated the cold room itself so I didn't need to control the temp of the diamonds, worked pretty well.
crbd115
Yeah I thought about doing something like this. Part of what I want to be able to do is make a loop of conveyor belts going through tungsten tiles, using iron from an iron volcano or other similar hot materials and keep looping it through to heat steam until the materials were cool enough. Then it would send them out and send in a bunch of fresh materials. I can think of a really long way to do it but it would just be too inefficient to be useful. Neotuck
Unfortunately it's not efficient. I have tried temp control for extreme tempatures and best way is to take advantage of heat deletion from ether a sieve, skimmer, or turbine. Wheeze warts and AETNs are just not enough when you want to cool materials at a large scale

Use diamond window tile instead of tungsten metal tile, its cheaper.

I have started to hear about this recently, should I still do this if I tend to use my diamond for tempshift plates?

Ideally you'd use Diamond for both, if you've acquired enough. There's a sizable amount down in the Oil Biome, and a couple types of Space destination have it available as well.
