DesktopMan
When dupes choose to do a sweep order they pick the closest container to their current position. This results in an absurd amount of time spent traveling. I really believe this should be changed to look for the closest container to the item being picked up. This is the same type of search so I don't think there will be a noticeable performance penalty, which has been an argument against this previously. "Why can't you just use priorities" you may ask. In the end-game you have way too many orders and dupes to use priorities to work around this issue. It's just not practical. See the gif for a visual explanation of this issue. Now imagine the distance is half the map and there are a ton of things to sweep. Ambaire
And to add to that, why did Marie only pick up 4 and then 2? She could have carried all 6. See this topic I created for additional detail. Greybear
I tend to spend way too much time on just picking up stuff, especially in the early game. Not very logical or fun. I agree that this need fixing Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/101507-feedback-dupe-container-selection-aka-running-back-and-forth/#findComment-1140576 Share on other sites
