Oni Noob
Hi Guys, Just a thought do you think it would be possible to power up a steam generator using Polymer Press? or maybe fill up a steam rocket? I am thinking what are possible used of steam from Polymer Press Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/101045-polymer-press-possibilty/ Share on other sites
SharraShimada
In very late game... maybe. If you build the press out of niobium or such. With gold alamgam as material, it will break >125°C, and thats only a third of what you need for a steam generator. ChickenMadness
Even with steel the overheat temp will be 250C And you need steam thats just slightly hotter than that for the steam generator to work. They designed it this way on purpose so you can't do what you're suggesting. But as the above poster said, with late game materials that you can only get from space, it would probably be possible. However you can fill up a rocket with steam of any temperature. So you can 100% do this as long as you can stop the steam from cooling back into water. I think the easiest way to fill up a steam rocket is to just build a bunker tile box in the vacuum of the space biome and let the meteors heat it up though. You'll have an infinite supply of steam without having to do anything apart from just pump water into the box. You can build this 'steam box' right next to the rocket so the steam doesn't have to travel far and it will minimize the risk of gas pipes breaking (when the steam cools back into water) TL;DR Rocket - yes Steam generator - no Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/101045-polymer-press-possibilty/#findComment-1136285 Share on other sites
