Lezahrde
Today me and a few friends were playing on a world that was well over 100+ days but the server host got a blue screen of death. When he got back into DST the save file that had our world had been regenerated to day 1. All of the work and progress has been lost, is there anyway of restoring the world? It's so sad to see the world we put many hours into disappear due to a crash. Any help would be appreciated.
CarlZalph
On the host's computer there should be a few backups of the world from previous days in the Klei folder. In the sessions folder should exist the different versions of it. Klei/DoNotStarveTogether/Cluster_#/(Master or Caves)/save/session/(bunch of numbers + letters)/*
Lezahrde
Sorry, I'm a bit confused, after locating the file, what would we do with it?
CarlZalph
The numbers identify the save count so you'd roll back by going to a prior number by removing the latest. If you want me to poke at the files for you, then have the person zip up the cluster folder and send it somewhere where I can download it.
Lezahrde
The past numbers aren't there, I'm assuming it's because the world was regenerated. Removing the latest ones does not bring back the world.
CarlZalph
Alas, my condolences then. The world might very well be entirely gone if those backups aren't there, and I'm not sure of anything else to do for helping here.
NSAiswatchingus
This is why you ALWAYS back up your save file. Every 100 days I save my world to two flash drives and the PSN cloud storage.
