Let Dreckos eat from planter boxes

Recommended Posts

I don't really understand why they aren't allowed to eat from them. Yes I know the dreckos are short but I don't see why that would stop a creature from eating when it could push itself more upright in order to reach its food. There are some pretty useful things I could do with planter boxes that I can't do with a farm plot. I know Klei probably won't make it so dreckos can eat from critter feeders, so could we please at least have some more ways to feed them live plants?

Whats the difference between Farm Tile and Planter Boxes? Not a lot other than Decor and how Dreckos eat from them. So one optional "perk"(depending on how you see it) would be that Planter boxes are safe from any wild scurrying Dreckos. I think it is fine as it is.

There are some pretty big differences. One is a tile and the other is a building you place on a tile. Say if I wanted my dupes to be able to run fast in my drecko ranch I could use planter boxes and cover the floor in metal tiles, but I can't do that. Additionally, I could use mechanized airlocks as a floor to more easily automate my ranch. Sure overall it might make my ranch take up more space but it would be nice to at least have some more options.

Also another thing I've realized about dreckos that don't make sense is they can't eat from the top of plants. Why even have the ability to crawl on walls if they can't use that ability to reach the tops of plants to eat. In nature animals always use height advantages like this to reach food (giraffe necks, monkeys climbing, etc.).

I don't think these would be that big of a change to implement, and if dreckos are being a pest inside your base then you can just kill them like they were pests. Unless you dig up every hole a drecko is in you won't make them go extinct.
