Bees fly over walls

Recommended Posts

Make the walls taller by upgrading/adding more resources to it. Grass for Hay Walls, Wood for Wood Wall, Stone for Stone Walls etc. More info on the Wiki.

Hope that helps, good luck and have fun.

EDIT: I was very wrong, bees aren't affected by walls of any height.

I'm so very sorry. I was able to block off Basilisks from pooping all over the place by walling the cave entrances. So since bees are technically also flying creatures that flew just a bit above ground. I figured they would also affect bees. I truly am sorry, you probably ended up using a lot of resources because of my misinformed post.

On the task at hand, to help isolate bees in a certain area away from your walled off base/camp I suggest you keep majority of the flowers planted farther away from your base/camp but also near the beeboxes and pick up any flowers near your camp. If you're willing to make an extra effort, I suggest moving all the beeboxes a bit farther away from your base/camp area, about two screens away.

I really am sorry again for misguiding you. :(

Pretty sure bees don't fly over walls unless something aggro'd them. Otherwise they treat the wall as something they don't want to fly over

We've tested it. Walls don't affect bees, at all. I've boxed/walled up a beehive with the tallest stone walls and they phase through it like it wasn't even there.

@cptCalavera, hmm. Odd. Well OP posted the question in Don't Starve GD so I only tested it on Don't Starve Base-Game. I will have to try other versions too then, including RoG. I'll report my findings when I can.

UPDATE: Just tested the bees vs walls on both DST and RoG. On both versions, bees still pass through walls no matter how tall it is.

If there aren't flowers outside your box, they don't feel like flying out of it. They pass through the walls like it was nothing, but if there's nothing on the outside of the walls they want then they don't fly outside of it. Just put 10-15 flowers on the inside of the wall and ring the beehouses around the flowers with the wall around that, the bees will all be attracted to the centre nexus of flowers and never really leave. You should be good then. (Don't really see how this is an issue though, other than maybe if you're in RoG and don't like spring bees, in which case just don't go near the walls)
