Hello! I love this mod and have had so much fun writing scripts for it. I have an error though, where every time the game starts that black box likes to copy my files and place extras into the folders. My characters name shows up on the checklist, but it keeps sending me to a certain thing that says what the image below says. Do you know anything about the path it wants? I've figured out a lot myself, but this just wont work even though I have a match for it. As you can see in the file "Steam DST multiple files coppied (yes I know I spelled copied wrong, typo)" it has multiple files of the same thing but replaces it with a .png.tex or something. I'm not sure why it does this, and why it adds the random .png. It's actually just a .tex file, but it shows otherwise. and as for the pathway issue, I'm not sure why it tells me I have one. I have the two files where they need to be (it's referring to folders DST file) and it still tells me it can't find anything to match it on that path. Do you know how to help?

This helped a lot, it really did, but there one slight problem i'm having.

Everytime I run my game and load the mod, it crashes, I remembered the LUA code loaded 34 occurrences and 0 occurrences, I didn't know how to change it, maybe I did something wrong editing it, I followed the instructions, right now I'm making the art and dialogue but I have no idea and no matter what I do, I can't find what causes it.

For DS its great but for DST the autocompilier wont stop naming everything in the anim fold esctemplate and idk how to stop it :(

Stinks because i want to use the mod with friends.

I love this tutorial but when I finished the whole naming character part, I loaded up the game so I can make sure it has been renamed. When I apply the mod, the game crashes. I'm not sure how to fix this. If you could help that would be great! Just to let you know I'm trying this on the single player version. If this helps, here's the crash log.

Hello, I made a character, its pretty good, no crashes, I used the Extended sample character shipwrecked mod
BUT the chara is tiny, is there a way to make it bigger? Ah and for the voice I wanted to use Webber's voice but its not working.

It won't let me edit the files in Notepad ++. It ignores everything I do to edit them.

i got dont starve on GOG not the steam version because it was on sale but i cant use the mod tools so i dont know what to is there anyway you could help

Sadly, the mod tools are a Steam exclusive as far as I'm aware. This guide is assuming you bought it with Steam. I think there's a way to add non-Steam games into your library though.

I forgot to say one thing, I have no error when I use template texures (not changed).

Quick question, when I select my character and go to the clothe select screen, and I hit next, it fades away, but doesnt load the game.

Normally I do whatever I can to figure out how to fix any issue I have myself but I cannot seem to figure out this one:

Whenever I do the CTRL+SHIFT+F to find and replace all the esctemplate and the ESCTEMPLATE with my character's name I end up getting 60+ esctemplates found instead of the number they got in the video, aswell as 5 ESCTEMPLATES. After following the rest of the instructions to the letter my game crashes when I generate the world with the mod selected. Saying to check the logs, which are no where to be found.

I am attempting to make a DST character mod for me and my friends.

also if anyone knows how I can make a character that upgrades like WX,a character that regains health and sanity like Wigfried upon kills, and a character with something like Wendy's flower with a  custom summon. I would be grateful

I've tried just about everything in this topic that relates to my problem. Every time try to enable my mod, it will load and then it will freezes on this screen. I don't know what I'm doing wrong and the previous solutions in the topic aren't working.

Update:

So it's not freezing on that screen anymore but it is going back to to the main screen without enabling the mod. I've tried compiling the mod manually but every time a 1 or 2 lines will start and then i'll get an msvcp100.dll error. I've been trying to fix this but it keeps happen every I try to compile my file manually. Is anyone else getting this or know how to get rid of it? I would assume it's just because my laptop sucks but I want to make sure.

first time i am creating character and everytime i launch the server its crashes saying missing files in the prefab, and i was hoping someone with experince could help me :D

For those looking for a more up to date guide for the basics of making a character, I found this one which helped me with the problem that I had stated before. Although simple, it allowed me to have my 3 characters more or less work when all installed together.
 

I don't know if it will work for everyone, but its worth a shot.
