Space POI drilling weirdness

sakura_sk
  • Branch: Live Branch Version: Windows Fixed

It seems that some space POI need very specific cargo modules on the rocket in order to start drilling them.

Some examples:

If you don't have a liquid tank when mining a glimmering asteroid field, the drilling never starts.

Steps to Reproduce

Send a rocket equipped with a drill cone and a cargo bay to mine Glimmering, Metallic or Oxygen rich asteroid fields. [save file trying to mine oxygen rich using any of the 6 combinations above]

A developer has marked this issue as fixed. This means that the issue has been addressed in the current development build and will likely be in the next update.

Quoting my comment from the forum thread:

So that pattern seems to be that, in order to harvest each space POI, requires one specific storage type to start harvesting.  That module type is determined by the element that is listed first in the code:

Note that glimmering asteroids list molten tungsten first and helium clouds list hydrogen (off topic... shouldn't they have helium in them?)

However, when the harvestable elements are displayed in game they are sorted in decreasing order of abundance:

So the required storage type is unknowable from the game without testing.
