Log file grows very fast, causes crash when it runs out of HD space

Coolthulhu
  • Branch: Preview Branch Version: Linux Fixed

The log file seems to note every single instance of a played sound. This accounts for over 80% of the log file, which can reach size in gigabytes after an hour of playing.

If the game can't log a sound, it crashes.

The log file compresses very well - to about 1% of initial size when using LZMA (.xz or .7z). If those huge logs are needed, on the fly compression could help.

Steps to Reproduce
1. Have lots of automation parts flipping on and off constantly 2. Center game window on them so that you can hear them 3. Watch the log file grow 4. Game crashes when log file can't be appended to anymore

Hey @Coolthulhu, thanks for the report - we updated FMOD in this upgrade and this logging got unintentionally switched back on in the process. Fix is coming in the next patch!
