Reaching 21 souls while you're halfway through hopping to a boat can cause the mass soul drop to trigger midair, causing you to land on the water beneath you and immediately drown.
Steps to Reproduce
Killing spider hordes at the water's edge while jumping back and forth is one way of triggering it. The Starving Floor mod is where I first experienced it; basically the same scenario of lots of mobs dying at the water's edge.

A developer has marked this issue as fixed. This means that the issue has been addressed in the current development build and will likely be in the next update.
