Well the same/similar problem that I have is when you try to shift-click left-click on for example a pile of 40 rocks in an opened chest, and you have some rocks in your inventory/backpack, let's say you have 14 rocks, sometimes the game just doesn't register transferring the 40 rocks, and the transfer doesn't go through. The soundbyte plays, and there might be a visual bug in the correct number of rocks in your inventory and/or the chest after you do it, but after a short while the number corrects itself (to that in which the transfer didn't go through).

This might be a network-related bug, not sure, I would test going into a high-ping server with a fair number of players and testing trying to exchange things from chests to inventory with shift-click.

Or it could be related to items having turned into an "idle" or "unloaded" state (such as when you see someone else's backpack having axes and pickaxes without a durability number indicator, or when you look in an ice box and the thermal stones are all neutral gray without a durability indicator). Shift-clicking these items won't cause them to enter your inventory either, if I remember correctly.

This non-transferrability issue comes up pretty frequently. So the workaround is to left-click on the stack of items in the chest/icebox/container, drag your mouse to your inventory slot where you want the stack of items dropped, and left-click at that spot to transfer the items.

This is also true. Happens on local host too, with no mods enabled.
