Carbon Dioxide refinery and other ideas.

Recommended Posts

first off, i wanna say i am sorry if this is not where i post these ideas, and if its a really long read and if don't make any sense at all. i am normally really shy about posting things on forms because i might offend someone or the developers for imposing my ideas on something they worked so hard on. if i do offend someone or the developers then i'm really sorry.  also, i can't draw and i can't do sketches with out making them look tarrible  sorry. (artistic skill -200, creativity + 5)

Carbon Dioxide Refinery;
i was thinking there wasn't much that carbon dioxide dose in the game, its not really a problem nor is it really helpful other then 'tricking' food boxes or refrigerators into being a sterile atmosphere. so i thought what if there was a Carbon Dioxide Refinery that takes in large amount of Carbon Dioxide which is at a high temperature and turns it into Refined Carbon at 45% ratio of what it takes in. or maybe a higher ratio or lower ratio. what ever seems balance.

Net traps;
Pufs (and Puflets), they're Slime, Bleach-stone,and Oxylite machines, given you have them in the right conditions but if don't have them in the right atmosphere then they starve, and no one like to starve their pets or any animal, and you can't get anything from them while they are starving. so how do we move them? We can't wrangle them and the Lure only makes them converge to one area, sure you can pick their eggs up and move them like that, but what if you for get about them, then what was once a Critter with bright future ahead of its self is now a a tasty dinner just because I forgot about them in a storage box. but if there was a net trap that could trap them and then weight them down so Duplicants can pic them up and move them to locations that we set. and the Net traps could be reusable too, we make them out of raw or refined metals and then we supply it with power to work, some plastic for the net and raw minerals for the weight.

New Diseases;
the med-bays i feel are kinda useless, the only time i have ever used them was to heal my Duplicants back up too 100 from a fight with the hatch or from sunburns but by the time i get anywhere near the top of the map i have 1 med-bay with two pharma chamber and i found that i didn't really need them the med-beds work just fine on their own even with out the Apothecary. the diseases that once limited our ecotourism to a much slower paste is gone. so here a couple of simple Diseases and a deadly one that i think that would help bring the med-bays back to life (see what i did there?).
simple Disease 1 skin irritation. skin irritation is caused by eating too much meal lice, lice loaf, fired mushroom or handling too much Lime with out washing their hands after delivering it. Duplicants with skin irritation get a debuff that reduces the Duplicants, tinkering, digging, construction and strength and make the Duplicants stop and itch them self, for a 'fair' amount of time ( i say fair because if is too short of a time then its can just be blown over by the player and if its too long then it becomes too annoying to deal with) can be cured with in 2 cycles by doing nothing or .4 of a cycle when having cream applied. Cream can be made in the Apothecary using Dirt and water.
simple Disease 2 ( I for got what i had thought up i'll get back to it when i remember it)

Deadly Disease. toxic exposuretoxic exposure is caused by breathing in polluted oxygen, carbon dioxide and chlorine. mainly polluted oxygen unless Duplicates run out of breath in chlorine and carbon dioxide and then recover their breath in those environments then they might catching it. Duplicants with toxic exposure get a debuff that reduces their, Athletics by 6 and will kill them in fifteen cycle if they are not treated in a pharma chamber for two cycles or in a heavily oxygenated area for five cycles. (by heavily oxygenated i mean the duplication must surrounded by 1500.g of oxygen)

Critters;
we all love our little Critters, they dance, they eat, they poop and they just enjoy life y'know so lets add a couple more more.

carbon puft and puflets, they breath in carbon dioxide and have a even split of pooping out coal or refined carbon at 40% of consumed mass, they spawn when a Squeaky Puft are pend with a prince puft they will have a increased odds of producing a carbon puftlet

coal hatch and hatchlet, they eat coal and poop out any of the raw minerals at 20% of consumed mass, coal hatchlets, are spawned from sage hatch's when fed refined carbon

sand drecko and drecklet, they eat Regolth and poop out sand at 'fair' amount of consumed mass, but sand drecko and drecklet have a low calories so they need to eat a lot or they will starve. also, sand drecklest spawn from Dreckos when they eat thimble reeds or when Glass dreckos eat sand.

Glass drecko and drecklet, they eat sand and poop out glass at 10% of consumed mass. but Glass drecko and drecklet have a low calories so they need to eat a lot or they will starve. glass drecklets spawn from Sand Dreckos when they eat Regolth

ores;
mining coal and diamonds should give off a bit of Carbon Dioxide. nothing much else to say just my opinion there.

Duplicants:
we all know how duplicants are. they are silly, their funny when they entombed their friends in something and then run way, the can have brain farts and trap them self in area when deconstructing but they always try their hardest to help [input your colony name here] to survive. but what if there was lazy Duplicants that when they don't feel like it they don't dig, build, cook, generate power or supply/delver for a 'fair' bit of time and their life memo is "IF I CAN DO IT TOMORROW I WONT DO IT TODAY". and what if there was industrious Duplicants that  when the think the world is going to end the next cycle if they don't get their jobs done they get a buff to all traits, but use more stamina for a 'fair' bit of time and they could fall a sleep from exhaustion and their life memo is "THERE IS NO TIME TO BE SLACKING OFF".

"their funny when they entombed their friends" (liam not having a laugh tho)

We... already have slicksters for this? And they convert CO2 to oil and petrol, both of which are much more useful than coal/refined carbon.

Seems kind of pointless; I can't see a situation where you'd have a shortage of raw minerals and an excess of coal (unless you overdid it with the stone hatches, but you would really have to overdo it).

Regolith can already be used for filtration, and there's a lot of sand on the map (so you'll last a long time before you run out of the stuff for glass production). Seems a bit pointless, and you can get sand out of regolith if you melt it into igneous rock first and then crush it. Or just harvest glass from satellites. Like, what do you even need that much glass for? And what would you get if you sheared them?

Not to mention the selective breeding sounds really annoying and impossible to regulate.

i wasn't thinking on this one, i was playing a game from spetember of 2017 i think. and i was running out of things so i threw suggestion that would help me and not everyone.

i didnt know how to get refind coal at that time so i made up something that would produce it for me, again was thinking about my self and not everyone. sorry

From my experience, Carbon Dioxide is to be managed early game. If you set up a Slickster farm as soon as possible towards the bottom of the map, you will be looking for ways to generate MORE CO2

i did that and then ended up with tones of c02 leading up to my base. and it was hard to ger rid of
