Rocket conveyor unloading

Recommended Posts

So I want to use conveyors to unload rocket cargo.

The problem I have is on the sweeper arm side.  If I set the compactors to "sweep only" the arm won't load them with any materials. If I only load them with space materials, the conveyor receptacle will clog up with coal/diamond etc. If I set the compactors to accept everything from the rocket, then courier dupes start delivering diamond/coal etc from all over the map (even with priority 2 because couriers will deliver first).  Note I run my base with all compactors on sweep only to avoid endless cleanup dup labor so there is plenty of coal/diamond etc laying around.

So, how do I set this up to unload everything from the rocket, and allow dups to access the space materials (so I can't just lock off the room), but avoid manual deliveries?  Only thing I can think of is a double room with access denied to first room and then off loading from these compactors to a second set for space materials.  Seems clunky.

You said your loaders and receptecals will clog up so having more than one should help prevent clogs

well, I said I was not using loaders...but I think this just moves the problem.  I can have a loader pull off the diamond/carbon but that still has to be loaded into a compactor so dupes will still want to load that compactor up.

Well you could restrict dupe access to where you keep storage

Both kilns and metal refinaries can be loaded with sweepers so you can keep dupes from needing to move carbon

As for diamonds there isn't much use for them outside of making tempshift plates and window tiles so using a sweeper to drop them on the ground is your best bet

I ended up going with two rooms.  But I must say it is a messed up game mechanic where if you use sweeper arms,, the compactors are then manually loaded by dupes.  I blame the prioritization system since I can;t really control the fact I dont want dupes to load the compactors that my automated sweeper arms are tasked to.
