Shove Vole Storage..

Recommended Posts

I decided to try keeping them around and do it my own way :)

so.. bunker tile, steel conductive wire and conveyor rail diamond on the bottom for the hell of it.
Iron doors so they can go up and eat that regolith and I can make it a stable if I really want to.

I haven't messed with sweepers much - how do i get the sweeper to fill the darn storage containers??

They really are excellent at escaping..  they were riding down an iron conductive wire to escape.  took me forever to make that realizaiton, sigh.

sigh.  I hate these things.  they just teleport off the bottom from time to time.. i just watched it happen.  it appeared 4 tiles below its previous position..

there's your problem, sweepers only move objects to higher priority

Leave your receptacle at 5

set your compactors at 6

set your feeder at 7

Awesome.  I knew it was simple :)

I suspect the escapist got hungry and teleported down to the nearest food.. *shrug* i'm trying to keep them inside now, lol

I changed the mesh doors to steel.

after several turns of normal behavior they have started doing that weird 'i'm gonna bounce up and down on this wall now' animation.  They are responsive to a rancher though.

I was wondering if I was the only one with voles that get stuck humping the walls.

I suspect it has something to do with broken pathing AI. The voles try to path through a door that is open while a dupe passes through, but it closes before they reach it, so they hump the wall in frustration.

Hmm.  in my case the 2nd vole will cross the room after being groomed to bounce with his buddy,  its weird,  i've seen wild puft and dreckos doing it too, on the upper area in space.

My main problem atm is making sure voles don`t leave the space biome once i break through. I guess i need a steel airlock and a critter trap at every entrance.

that won't contain them lol

they dig though almost anything and will show up in neighboring biomes under the surface

That`s what i`m afraid of. I`m thinking of setting up a regolith filled feeder with traps around it. I hope they follow the other critter logic and prefer to eat from feeders than from the ground. They shouldn`t break through steel airlocks but if they sneak by i`ll try to catch them in a trap and eventually put it in a sealed metal room.
