sv_omega
For this I want to minimize the amount of topics I make by submitting any issues or feedback I may have at the end of the day to minimize the amount of posts I make to the forums. So far hamlet seems like an awesome dlc, but I do have some initial gripes with it. Flint seems to be more rare than I would like, sometimes I would spend an entire day or more trying to find one flint when my pickaxe broke. The big bats that I assume work like hounds (I don't know their name) come out of nowhere first time around, seeing as the only warning I got was Wilson saying "This cannot be good" leaving me with no idea what they were referring to until it was too late. Anyways these were my initial gripes for day 1 of beta testing, I still have a lot more to go with hamlet as I have just barely got going with this Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/96735-my-thoughts-on-hamlet-day-1/ Share on other sites

In which ways are you trying to obtain flint? Except for flipping the flat stones and search through certain biomes, there are other ways. I have no problems finding enough flint (so far) at all. I assume your lack of flint will be gone promptly as soon as you discover more ways to obtain it? Here are some I've discovered so far, if you want to: Spoiler In the biome with the teatrees (I think it's always next to the hamlet (the pig town)) are often flint-, stone- and nitre-yielding rocks to mine. Just maybe prefer to mine them during dusk / when none of these squirrel-thingies are around, because they can steal the flint. I haven't found out what exactly triggers this, but sometimes, when you approach a dung beetle on it's ball, it falls off. When you loot that dung ball, there's a chance of finding flint. If you've really run out of flint, you can always check whether a pickaxe (or other tools you are interested in) are being offered in that shovel-store in the hamlet (given you found out how to obtain some Oinks). I don't remember whether it's possible to buy flint there directly. Although, I have to admit, in comparison to Don't starve vanilla, it's definitely harder to find out about how to obtain flint (well, it's not laying around on the ground that often anymore...). Maybe, this is supposed to balance the seemingly endless resources supplied by the hamlet? JimmyThornseed
I think flint is intended to be rare to encourage you to venture below and mine some up for yourself. It explains a few things, including getting flint from dung and why there is a cork bat weapon that's frankly pretty crap. It also explains why a lot of tools in the hardware store cost 10 oincs instead of just 3/5. I don't think it needs adjusting, it's just part of the resource challenge aspect of the DLC the same way Shipwrecked made some things really hard to get if you hadn't found the proper island for it yet.
