Ok let go through a checklist and see how far you progressed each game before running out of oxygen 

Phase I: (For X amount of duplicants) (Progression from Left to Right , Top to Bottom)

Build Bedrooms .// Build Wash Basin/ Outhouses .// Set up minimal power for research. .// Achieve Advance Research and build a Job Station

Build Farm tiles or planter boxes. .// Achieve Interior Decor .// Achieve Artistic Expression .// Create an enclosed room filled with Carbon Dioxide for Food Storage.

Boss Phase: (For X amount of duplicants)

Build Algae Oxidizers.

Phase II: (For X amount of duplicants) (Progression from Left to Right , Top to Bottom)

Build Barracks, Latrine, Mess Hall, Recreation Room .// Raise Morale to Duplicants' Satisfactory Level .// Expand power for automatic airlocks.

Achieve All Tier 1 , Tier 2 , Tier 3 Research.

Mini Boss Phase: (For X amount of duplicants) (Progression from Left to Right , Top to Bottom)

Achieve Food Sustainability without using Microbe Musher.

Boss Phase: (For X amount of duplicants) (Progression from Left to Right , Top to Bottom)

Build Electrolyzer and set up a efficient way to distribute oxygen to your base without 1. Overloading your electrical circuit 2. Introducing hydrogen to food supply.

Phase III: (For X amount of duplicants) (Progression from Left to Right , Top to Bottom)

Build a single layer of insulation tiles around your base to keep out the heat from neighboring biomes.

Achieve refined metals and start upgrading existing power grid. .// Achieve both Liquid Tuning and HVAC .// Build an efficient HVAC system for batteries cooling.

Build an efficient water cooling system to cool down farm tiles housing your meal lice (Single line pump using regular pipe with 20-21C water will suffice.)

1. Check for Oxygen?

2. Check for Atmo Suits?

3. Check for oil?

4. Ready for Plastic Manufacturing?

Finish up research Tier 4/5.

You'd have to really make an effort to run out of oxygen. It's really simple to get going and transition to better setups later.
