How to farm/get red gems?

I'm not that good at don't starve so I die often and it's annoying to keep getting booster shots is there any way to get red gems for life giving amulet

Red hounds can drop them. You can also get some from earthquakes in the caves too. Those are the easiest renewable sources of them, but you if need a few to start then graves or stalagmites (only the full ones) can drop them too.

You can trap Varg using Telelocator Focus and then farm unlimited red hounds in summer and autumn

I know this is not exactly the question, but regarding your concern of not using booster shots, remember that there are also other cheap ways to revive like meat effigies. Meat effigy's are a good alternative to amulets, or a nice complementary thing if you die, revive in the wrong spot, then immediately die again. It also relocates you somewhere safe.

A fast and easy way to get beard without relying on Wilson, is to kill a bunch of beardlings (the black version fo rabbits when you are almost insane or insane) until you get the 4 beard pieces required to make a Meat effigy.

Beardlings have a % chance of dropping beard though, a more reliable way (but slightly harder) is to kill beardlords (bunnymen when you are almost insane or insane) which will always drop 2 beards as long as you, or someone else insane, kills it. Monkeys are another option but monkeys are deep in the ruins and they are lantern stealing jerks.

You can consistently farm beard all year long just hammering down 4 bunny hutches, take the materials to your camp and re-make 2 of them, surrounded by walls, fences or something that prevents them from attacking you every time you walk by with meat. I'd also recommend making the bunny hutches separated from eachother by a wall at least, to prevent both bunnies teaming up against you at the same time.
You could technically kill the 2 beardlords when almost insane and obtain enough beard for a meat effigy any night you wanted to. When not insane, you can also kill the bunnymen to get carrots and meat, so it's also a good thing to have.

Bear in mind that every time you craft a meat effigy or attune to one you loose 40 hp, so be prepared to have at least 41 hp available, and some way to heal.

I don't even think you can kill yourself by making an effigy. I know you can't kill yourself by making telltale hearts.
