Thermal sensors beyond 300C

Recommended Posts

Don't know if any one else has tried this but controlling hot temperatures can be a hassle since thermal sensors don't go beyond 300C

I have found other ways of automating extreme temperatures using hydro sensors and small amounts of metal/rock

In the picture I have 5kg copper in a vacuum.  When the temperature rises above 1084C the copper will melt and activate the hydro sensor

This can also be adapted with 25kg igneous rock for 1410C

And 5kg Iron for 1535C

Note: To place material without debug mode simply build/deconstruct automation wire for copper/iron or gas pipe for igneous rock

When phosphorus was still a "super" conductor I really abused this idea ^^

But since I couldn´t find an use-case for the possible temperature detectors I could build right now.

=> I like that you brought that idea up again (maybe you can tell me which material has a usefull temperature as sensor right now)

I came up with it when I tried to automate my sand smelter with a gold volcano.  I wanted to empty the molten gold whenever it dropped below the temp for molten glass.  Unfortunately I couldn't find a material that worked well for it
