Barmatox
Having convection effect in fluid would be amazing ! Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/92768-convection-effect/ Share on other sites
BlueLance
If you mean cold water dropping and hot water rising then it would be interesting since gasses now do that IIRC Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/92768-convection-effect/#findComment-1057026 Share on other sites
Gurgel
I don't think I would like the massive performance penalty this would probably come with. It was already added for gasses 2 or 3 patches ago, It didnt affect performance because gasses/liquids already interact with their surroundings and influence the temperature of the tiles around them. Personally I love it because it makes my steam turbine build look pretty when its running Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/92768-convection-effect/#findComment-1057043 Share on other sites
avilmask
For the start, liquids could stop counting another liquids of lower mass as a reason to not flow through it Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/92768-convection-effect/#findComment-1057051 Share on other sites
Barmatox
I dont have seen any convection effect in any case for now, it should apply to gas and liquid imo... I always build heat exchanger properly to use convection effect but there is not I would be nice to see gradient temperature building cycle around different element temperature, and an all new way to manage those flux. Thinking about this it's a massive stuff that mean wind and current, it may be to complicated. It's a new form of energy application, it could be gathered by windmill or turbine. it would be fantastic. It's huge, too huge. While you have a point Avilmask, small drop of liquid or gas blocking kilogramme or tonne of fluid sometime. Gonhog
Ditto my friend. But what if they can't movie it out of the way? Are they going to make a "mixed tile" that is 900g water and 100g oil and when they have room to spread out and separate they will? I don't know how they would do it, guess we'll just have to wait and see Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/92768-convection-effect/#findComment-1057274 Share on other sites

I don't know how they would do it, guess we'll just have to wait and see oil should spread into another liquid (as long as there is another lighter liquid, it should spread), so you always have a layer of heavier liquid under light liquid. In another words, 900g block of water and 100g block of oil should create four blocks, two 450 of water and two 50 of oil. That way their flow doesn't get blocked by each other. AngryKeyring
Always wanted a true convection in the game. Maybe evaporation and compression and expansion temperature changes. Could lead to some truly interesting temperature management systems.
