How to deal with small patched of polluted water/ice

Recommended Posts

So i stopped playing just after the Thermal Update when you could still mop up patches of water, and now that i see you can't do that anymore, im wondering how people deal with small pockets of polluted water, especially in an ice biome where the polluted ice frequently melts leaving small pockets all over. If I want to keep it "clean" like i would do before and remove it, how do i go about doing so? Is the only solution to build pumps everywhere to drain them even for like a one tile pool?

Right, but if its too big to mop, like a one tile pool of polluted water thats 1000kg, what can I do about that? Do i have no choice but to build a pitcher pump to bottle it?

Either spread it over tiles (I usually spread it and raise some parts to split it) or use a pitcher pump/liquid pump. Pitcher is prob less energy but more dupe time though

Polluted water will also offgas whilst in bottle form

I agree. I usually just increase the area of the hole the water occupies and spread it thin so that my dupes can mop it up and ship it out to some bottle emptiers.

You can also [mini-exploit] it.  Mine the first tile next to the liquid and hover over it with the mop tool.  Click just as the block gets mined and the first few kg's go into the new tile.  Even though > 150kg will end up in it, they will still come and mop it including the new liquid flowing in from the tile adjacent.  You can end up with very massive bottles without spreading it across 10+ tiles.
