Adjust regolith numbers

Recommended Posts

Cycle <200, there is at least 10000t of this stuff on the map (judging by the 6000t I dug out already).

I'm pretty sure there is no sane way to use this up at the rate it keeps getting piled on the top of the map. I'd have to filter at least 250kt of polluted water just to get rid of what I have on the map right now. And from what I've seen, 5t per comet is lowballing it.

Igneous rock (second most common material) can at least be fed to hatches or turned into structures. There is no good sink for filtering materials.

Hey why not cook it into glass? Sand can be cooked into glass...(sorry not at my computer can't check if regolith can also do it)

What the heck are you going to do with that amount of glass! Also the heat from making that much glass.

Glass refinery explicitly states it wants sand. I wasn't able to get it to use regolith.

So far I can think of 3 ways to get rid of regolith:

  • Sieves
  • Deodorizers
  • Turn it to magma (above 1400C)

None of those options is anywhere near good enough. A single comet deposits at least 5t of it (looks more like 20t).

Even if you had a horde of dupes getting showers all the time just to pollute the water, you couldn't keep up with the comets.

Time to make.. uh...
835 deodorizers? Yeah, that should be about right.
And of course, to make the deodorizers work, about 3350 morbs! It's only a few.
Just imagine, with that many morbs, you can feed about 48 hatches. That would feed like, a whole colony of 24 dupes!

On second thought, over 3 thousand morbs to just take care of your regolith and feed 20 dupes may be a bit much.

IIRC clean H2O automatically transforms to pH2O when surrounded by atleast 3 other tiles of pH2O. So, free pollution of water.

I think this changed, didnt it change that if it comes into contact with polluted dirt it changes?

First time I hear anyone saying this.

Sounds very unlikely.

Either way they are free and automatable solutions.

Yeah, involving 3k morbs or a whole colony spending most of its time showering.

I don't mind the amount of Regolith numbers; i just can't stand the fact that they are over 300*C that melt my solar panels. It is nearly impossible to keep your solar panels going even with bunker blocks. Meteors traveling in a vacuum should'n be as high as 300*C. Now i'd understand if they traveled into a atmosphere. However the "meteor" that we are on has "NO" atmosphere. So i'm ok with the number, just please for the love of duplicates make it to where the Regolith that fall on the solar panel as dug up pieces not 300C*!!
