Digital Readouts?

Recommended Posts

Currently, to find the value of some measurement, we have to hover over or click something.

I think the existing automation system would be enhanced by having a visual readout of the system state. For example, the digital output of counters, temperatures, pressure and so on.

As an example of a project, with digital readouts, we could build a master control panel that displayed all the critical life support measurements for the base.

or a "signal" automation building, that will post a notification and play the notification sound on the upper left. maybe you can set the text for the notification, by setting the name of the signal or selecting it from a switch

but then when you run low on water or something, you can get a ding, clicking it would bring you to the location of that signal

Another idea is to change automation to something like Factorio do: Almost every object in factorio can emit or receive circuit values, each value is composed with both a signal and a value. Then, its just set a logical test to enable/disable something. In ONI it would make perfect sense - today, if i want, for example, enable something at a 10Kg of pressure, and disable at 3 Kg, i need two sensors.... with factorio style automation, only one sensor are needed.
