Auto save Frequency setting

Recommended Posts

The game already slows down to a halt during the daily save, unless you could turn off extra daily saving I would be against this. Especially since I play on triple speed, so one cycles worth of work is 4 minutes or a bit less. I wouldn't die if i lost a cycles worth of work.

You cant really accidentally hit alt f4 XD they ain't anywhere near each other.

And if it is a fatal crash that you know is going to keep repeating, wouldn't you want to be further back so you can stop the crash? not right on top of it. Imagine your game was crashing due to the Pacu crash where it crashed your game when it landed on a solid tile. Your game just auto saved the moment the critter was falling, you now have a crash loop.

If they make it mandatory, I am against it, if they make it a tickbox then I'm all for it, anything to help others is good as long as it doesn't stop others.

I use a macbook (alt and ctrl are located next to each other) running windows and when I mess around with debug mode then I frequently hit alt+f4 instead of ctrl+f4

And I mean in the post that it is an option so you can set the frequency as low as you want to

True, but that is why we have a string of saves that go back several cycles. I think it would actually be very beneficial to have a save closer to a crash. Being able to repeat these crashes is the best way for devs to improve the game.

Now, I wouldn’t be opposed to having more frequent saves, but they cannot grind the game to a halt like the current autosave does. That’s just flat out annoying, hence why so many people want and option to disable the autosave entirely.

Of course if you simplify the autosaves, you my lose the cause of any crash. So it’s a balancing act.
