Mark 2 critters - age and reproduction

Recommended Posts

A bunch of random info I haven't seen anyone post yet:

  • A wild critter will lay up to 1 egg before dying of old age, assuming it's both happy and adult for at least ~50% of its lifetime.
  • A tame critter can lay up to 16 eggs before dying of old age, assuming it's happy and adult almost 100% of that time
  • Wild critters don't need to eat to lay eggs. They only need to stay happy (ie. not confined or crowded)
  • Stored eggs keep incubating, but they will not hatch. Except on game load.
  • Some critters hatch adult - stone hatches, for example. Those will also hatch tame, at least if the parent was tame.

More specifically eggs receive the same wildness as their parent.
If the parent died before reaching Tame, their egg can continue the taming process.
