Liquid valve question

Is there a job requirement to have dupes manipulate them?  I remember that before the jobs update, dupes would adjust them as soon as i wanted it changed, but now its like the liquid valve is just a 2 tile pipe made of metal.  Dupes have no problem reaching it so what could i possibly be doing wrong that prevents the flow rate from being updated?

Rebuild the valve and the piece of pipe and take care to connect to input/output and not just dragging the pipe through the valve. Idk if this helps. Sometimes it seems the pipe is behind the valve e.g. changing flow rate doesn't work since the pipe is not connected to input/output

rebuilding it seems to have worked.  or maybe its just because i had idle dupes lol

 

but i will check the priority for toggle next time i see nothing changing

Toggle did the job for me. It's the only task I have at elevated priority, otherwise duplicants would happily ignore it.

At one up arrow it appears to be on the same priority level as everything else.
