Lem3n
I first off want to say I’m a new player to this game so forgive me if I say some weird stuff. I’m still learning . I also may say some of the item name wrong so don’t get triggered xad. Organizing Chest & Base I have this problem that effect me and maybe you as well. I can’t keep trying to chest organized, It keeps getting messy. I was wondering if anyone have any idea . I don’t have any photo to show u since I delete my world after I died, I play solo but I can assure it, it’s pretty messy. It take about 20s-1m to find the thing I’m looking for I need my chest. I’ve look up on YouTube for some tips about organizing chest but dosent seem to find any except one YouTube vid. Also any suggestion how to set up a base and know where to pick. These are my main problem atm. Season Boss And Hound Dealing with season boss is also a pain in my butt sometime when they come unexecptly but I can useually get myself ready to fight it. Like boot camp when u wake up and in a panic start getting dress lol. Anyway . Every time the hound attacks. It get more and more. I think it stop at some point but there usually a lot. I have trouble dealing with fire hound because they keep burning down my base. They burn down my bushes and stick Bush . I’m not sure what the name of it but the ice thingy that shoot ice balls dosent come in range to save my burning stuff. So if any one have good suggestion, please comment . I would love to hear it. Im always trying to improve. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/89128-how-do-i-better-organize-my-base-and-ect/ Share on other sites

These are my main problem atm. Take a look at mini signs. This is my personal favorite addition to this game simply because of the organizational aid it provides. Especially in a multiplayer environment. It can be a tad bit costly, especially early on and for a new player, but I feel like it's worth it if you can keep a world going long enough. 49 minutes ago, SavageLemon said: Season Boss And Hound Dealing with season boss is also a pain in my butt sometime when they come unexecptly but I can useually get myself ready to fight it. Im always trying to improve. I got two words for you: tooth traps. I'd recommend making this far enough away from your base so hounds don't go in it, but still close enough that you can reach it when you suddenly hear them. Building a base next to a wormhole and making a trap field on the other side is something I've done many times (but be aware that it costs 15 sanity per trip). I personally like to add in a flingo in my trap fields, but this is by no means necessary. It's just a quality of life thing. I'd rather not just sit there waiting for the fire you die out on it's own so I can safely collect the loot and reset the traps. I'd also recommend setting down a "hard" turf (like boards, marble, carpet, rocky turf, ect.) so that eyeplants can't grow on it and eat all the traps. You can also take a look at this thread here for other, more creative ways of dealing with hounds. Wesminator
Heya SavageLemon, welcome to the world of DST. This is just my personal approach to base organization (I'm a bit picky with chests). First I would recommend getting a mod called Geometric Placement. This will help you even out the spacing for almost any item you put down (chests, crockpots, etc) It's really handy. Once you install it, press B in-game and you can configure the options to your liking. It looks like this when you get it: Alrighty so chests, I like to use my chest skins as an easy way to organize things (ie) brown chest for wood, ancient/gold chest for minerals, etc. It just helps me color code things as well in some instances. If you don't have many chest skins, you can use these mini signs and a feather pen (this item is located in your tools: 1 black feather, 1 charcoal, 1 twig). You'll need to place the item in front of your character so they can draw it on the sign as well so make sure you do this otherwise they'll act like they don't know what a log looks like. For seasonal bosses, I feel as though you just need to have everything ready just in case. Deerclops is the only one that gives a warning and spawns close to your base (unless you do Lots of Giants challenge). To prepare for Deerclops, make a mini base thats away from your base but close enough in case you need supplies. Always at least have 1 log suit, 2 helmets, and a Ham Bat (also depends on who you're playing but those basic items should help.) Something like this might work, since Deerclops targets places with 3 or more structures. Deerclops usually spawns somewhere between Day 26-31 I believe so just brace yourself around that time. I would also prepare a few healing items (Pierogi, Healing Salves, etc) in case you need some HP. Also note that Deerclops has a -400 sanity aura so Cooked Green Shrooms or Cactus will definitely come in handy...unless your Wigrid then just go fight stuff. As far as hounds go, I usually prepare a tooth trap in one area so that I can just run around while the hounds step on the traps. You'll need lots of rope and Hounds teeth which can be found killing those hounds, Mactusk in the Winter, Hound Mounds, hammering bone shards in the deserts. Doesn't hurt to get a Pan flute from Glommer Statue near Pig King (or use Mandrakes to make one) when things get hairy. Sometimes you can sleep them and just run so they can aggro on other things, just make sure you're not close to base when you do this. The other bosses you just run around and find. There are plenty of YouTube Tutorials/Guides that can help you out so give those a watch as well. It's also fun to just practice spawning them in and learn how to kite them solo or with friends. All in all these are just some ways I personally do things. Feel free to experiment until you get something you like! Enjoy playing the game and I hope this helps EDIT: Picking a base is just personal preference really. Pick a place that has things you like: resources, near wormholes for travel, cactus (good for old lady Wicker), spiders (Webber city), near Mactusk for early tooth grabs, etc. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/89128-how-do-i-better-organize-my-base-and-ect/#findComment-1019919 Share on other sites

I really appreciate it. Both of your post gave me a better understanding It improve my survival day by a lot. I was playing by myself and did what you suggested. I just got one more question question if you don't mind answer. Do you know where do make a base because its also one of the difficult thing i deal with. I totally forgot about the lure plants eating everything so nice save n q n 51 minutes ago, SavageLemon said: Do you know where do make a base because its also one of the difficult thing i deal with. It really depends on personal preference and which character you're playing. I think Don Giani made a great video to explain base locations. Otherwise, I'd just look for things that important to you/your character. Here's a general list of things I look for: Resources: Whats abundant in this area? Bushes, saplings, logs, grass, etc If I'm not playing wicker, I can't read books for insta-resources so it's nice to have some nearby already planted so I don't have to go too far all the time or worry about fertilizing them. Also is there a source of meat nearby? Wormholes: I like to base near wormholes that travel quite a bit or lead to key places, super convenient. Central: Sometimes there's just so many resources nearby you just cant make up your mind (ie) desert on my left, rock mining area with spiders south, bees to the right) Try to centralize a good spot thats near all so you can get to them easily. Playtime: If I gonna no-life the game, that means I'll need to consider spring, Goose Goose spawning near ponds and Summer where things catch on fire. For Spring don't park right on Ponds since Moosey and her babies will just eat any food on the ground (kinda like piggies). And in Summer, I find it easy to dedicate that time to making a cave base as caves don't really heat up so your things are safe (at least from the heat). Parking within reach of a sinkhole (but not too close cuz batilisks are a nuisance) is not a bad option. You could also base/mini base at Oasis/Dragonfly desert for the summer since things are less likely to burn there but beware of sandstorms. Public/Private Server: I'm not sure if you play publicly so this may/may not affect you. If you do, make sure your base is not too close to spawn cuz griefers, though if you got a good group of friends and spawn is centralized, why not? Also basing near Mactusk for early grabs is an option (NOTE: He will not spawn if you are within a screen length so back up) Character Benefits: Think about your character too! Webber would do good near some spider nests for allies, materials, or even to move the nests around. No need to put him in harms way near a bunch of pigs, unless you have your army ready. Wicker should be able to get to a swamp for quick runs when needed. Wigfrid's gonna need some meat and Woodie some wood. Hope this helps again! You'll understand as you play more but just have fun wherever you base or experiment with~ Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/89128-how-do-i-better-organize-my-base-and-ect/#findComment-1020111 Share on other sites
