i'm thinking of a friend lets you join their game and you can be either a manager(regular gameplay except with a friend) or a duplicant(spawns a duplicant, resets the pod printing time, you control the dupe) and there would be a hotbar with things like digging tool, harvest tool etc. and your stats like stamina hunger health ect. and maybe first person? it'd be really cool.

Controlling a Dupe is going to be a lot of work, none of the interface really supports it, unlike Don't starve which needed no interface changes to be made coop

The simpler means to create multiplayer is to just have any number of players making orders in the normal way, they should be able to see each others mouse cursors of course as well as a special highlight on an object that another player has opened a control panel on.  This was done in Star Crafts 'team' play variant and was essential for not accidentally stepping on each others orders .

mebe a little color flag for "who" is issuing what orders that matches the little color box by their name....or color of their name etc

and possibly have it require 2 players to cancel a third players orders so you could vote out a players construction but couldn't just cancel it outright?

Generally most recent click just takes effect, no different then if one player was able to operate multiple mouse points simultaneously.  If your group is try actively fighting each other that's not the games job to police and make you behave.  The server that is running the game obviously has the ability to eject/invite people.
