Are high calorie foods pointless in terms of calories?

Recommended Posts

Seems to me that dupes will eat when their kcal number drops to about 2000 or so, as that is when they acquire the "hungry" trait. Since the max amount of calories they can sustain is only 4000, this means that eating a stuffed berry returns the same amount of calories that a gristle berry does, only 2000, meaning the remaining 2000 calories from the stuffed berry goes to waste, UNLESS the dupes wait until they've almost starved to death to eat. There's no way to tell them to hold off on eating though, other than unchecking the recipes in the consumables tab. Moreover, when a dupe consumes a high calorie food, the whole portion is eaten, regardless of how many or few calories are returned. Other than the stress reduction (which is immense, I'll grant them that), high calorie foods don't actually "fill" a dupe any more than a standard food like gristle berries does.

I think that dupes should, by default, wait longer before eating a higher calorie food instead of always sprinting to the kitchen to chow down every time their calorie level reaches 2000. Either that or their calorie limit should upped to 6000. Either solution will prevent those extra calories from being wasted.

What does everyone else think?
