Automation Question. How to set up a light beacon?

Recommended Posts

This is a fun thing I want to put in my map.  It does not have any real importance.

So is it possible to have a flashing light set up?   What I would like to see is a light that turns on for a second or half-second,  turns off for 2 seconds and repeat.

I've dabbled only a short time on automation items and don't know where to start.  I'm guessing the buffer and filter gates may have something workable there?

A yes/no answer for whether it is possible is more than good enough for me.   I don't want to waste several hours on trial and error for something that is not possible to do.

@Saturnus

Thanks for the succinct answer.  It was a nice gentle push to get me started.  Especially the tip about the NOT Gate!!

At first I thought I only needed one,  either buffer or filter gate.  But realized eventually that both are required to control the on and off segments.

Please comment if there is a better way to implement this.

Posting a picture as well if someone can't wrap their head around it and wants a solution later on.

Attempt #1 with the FILTER gate and I learned that I was controlling only the amount of time it stayed off.  The light was on for only an instant and I wanted it to be longer.

Attempt #2 with adding the BUFFER gate,  figuring it would do the "opposite".  And soon enough it came together.  The FILTER gate kept it off for 3 seconds.  And the when the light turned on, the BUFFER gate kept the light on for 1 second.
