Preview Build - On Slimelung

As per the preview update, I think its pretty noticeable that significant changes have been made, furthering the difficulty, nerfing dupe stats, etc. I can support most changes, since the previous build was easy as hell, and pretty much making most of the new stuff quite meh.

One change, however, takes the cake and thats the buffs made to the slimelung germ. Its tons more annoying now, and seemingly indestructible. The previous methods utilized (i.e. making tons of deodorizers, introducing chlorine, etc.) dont seem to work much now, and its now a confirmed hazard to venture into the slime biodome without suits on. Bear in mind that once a dupe gets the germ, he/she might as well be dead.


Any thoughts? or anyone else found an effective way of dealing with this?

I haven't noticed that slimelung is any different, I played the same way as before and had no issue.

Also, you know it can be healed right? You're dupe isn't dead once they get it, just stick them in a chamber for a while until the time left is shorter than the time til dead.

Yeah, I know it can be healed. But getting one dupe off duty for so many cycles is just painful for me to look at that I generally get fed up waiting.

But on the changes, there was definitely some buffs on the germ. They seem more resilient than the previous upgrade. Had like 10,000 germ count on pure oxygen, and the numbers dont seem like theyre decreasing. Just getting the dupes to clear off a small patch of slime and had like one guy with 40,000 germ count on em. Previously, all you needed to do was just build deodorizers and wait to get rid of most of them germs, its just not happening to me now.

Not sure if this is just me, since Ive only started one game since the preview got on live. Anyone else with similar experiences?

It's just 3-4 cycles, provided you actually set the heal priority high enough.

Slimelung on dupes isn't that dangerous. Slimelung on oxygen is, but does die off, it's just that it was never instantaneous. It's just -13%/cycle, so you need 5 cycles just to halve the germ count.

Slimelung didn't get a buff. Dupes got a nerf. They no longer seem to have so much immunity (was the stat removed?) and due to their low walking speed, will spend more time in germy areas. Because of that, you need to deodorize early and leave the polluted areas for a while to de-pollute before entering them.

I like the new slimelung. It's actually a challenge now, because you need to race against water use and temperature not to starve. At hardest immunity settings that is - with even +5%/cycle, my dupes would never get ill, especially once I got the vitamins up.
