Kraken1900
We can now use chlorine to disfinect ore or air, why not using liquide chlorine to disinfect water ? Or the chlorine water needs another treatment to be consumable or to gas formed after reheating transform in something or can be repumped as chlorine ? What do you think ? LeadfootSlim
I've liked the idea of using plastic and chlorine gas to make a new Filtration Medium item, but it is a little incongruous to have such difficulty incorporating chlorine to water when it's a well-known property. Maybe Chlorine could be a "contaminant" that can be added to water - it kills germs, but too much chlorine becomes undrinkable? SpaceHobo
It would be cool to specify just how chlorinated you want the water to be. Light chlorination tastes fine but might not get all of the germs. Heavy chlorination tastes so foul it stresses your dupes but anything short of pumping raw sewage into your reservoir wont be a problem. Khullag
The only actual way dupes interact with water is cooking mush bars and stuff. As they do not drink water, chlorination could only affect food and I doubt it could affect Electrolyzers (maybe break them if too high % of chlorine?). In general I would love to have possibility to clear water with liquid chlorine (even in current state of process of liquifying chlorine). Water is also used for farming, and in my colony that's how my dupes got sick. About the amount of chlorine, I imagine in real life the water decontamination facilities probably use some machine to get the right amount of chlorine, so I think if this is to happen in ONI it can just be a machine that added chlorine to the water, or it can be a new liquid filter as suggested above, or it can be a small add-on machine for the water sieve machine (maybe I played too much starcraft :\ ) If we want to get complicated, there are a few things that can be added like when chlorinated water is outside of pipes and machines, it will emit chlorine and turns into normal water. vovik
Chlornator is here. Simple water chlorinator, no need to think of something complex, works totally on dupe power. On exit water comes out germless, just need to look after amount of dupes doing delivery. Efficiency scales with ammount of bottle emptiers. Topic closed?
