FistfulOfZen Posted October 12, 2017 Share Posted October 12, 2017 How dupes select which storage compactor has absolutely no relationship to which ones are closest to the stuff they are cleaning up. They waste time going all the way across bases in order to store things, ignoring storage compactors with exactly the same storage requirements. It seems to be related to how old the compactor was built, favoring older compactors, for some reason. Please fix. Botaxalim Posted October 14, 2017 Share Posted October 14, 2017 best way to optimize their workload, is make few compactor, set to specific important mats like metal (setting priorities depend on which important) and make other bunch storage and set to "sweep" only dupe is not very smart , their routine just one dimensional and linear i hope they improve the AI in the future one they could improve for start is 1. try digging 2x high tiles long, in mid-late game there a lot jobs, dupe dig tile one, back to base, wait other dupe to dig second tile.... until inside tile is reachable, 3rd dupe will come to continue dig the tile, repeat. if AI is smart this job only need 1 dupe to dig all tiles. our only option here to set dig task is set to priorities 9.. to much time waste by running back to base and to dig site 2. when dupe using exo suit, they could improve the priorities the job past exo checkpoint. but all we have here is stupid dupe back to base for eating, bath, or any simple reason after halfway they going to worksite, wasting their time equip and unequip suit Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/82922-dupes-dont-use-closest-storage-compactor/#findComment-963729 Share on other sites More sharing options...

Dups should use the closest compactor for the stuff they are carrying. Any other solution is stupid. PS - Just tested, nope, Dupe that was near the bottom of my base when I issued sweep command is still carrying material to the compactors at the top of my base... This is derp level stuff... :/ It sure is. When they start doing this, I tell them to move into the sweep zone. Most of the time, they resume sweeping and use local storage compactors.
