Obviously you can't feed it more than 10kg/s as that the maximum You can run through a liquid pipe. It's self-regulating, and even power outs isn't a problem. nice! Spoonikle
Since dupes can grab items through corners, like the corner build - I wanted to set up a boiler like this, but instead of having them run in with exosuits through the Naphtha airlock - I was thinking they could just corner grab the dirt. Yet I noticed there is an airlock in the boiling chamber - what purpose does it have? If I replace it with insulation to allow corner access to the dirt will I see a total failure or only a minor loss? If I make space on the other side of the Auqatuner will I see more issues? I kind of want to never have to send dupes into the room, while still getting the dirt removed. Saturnus
The airlock next to the aquatuner is a vital part of the boiler design. It's gold amalgam and that means it heats up and cools down fairly slowly so it's there to stabilize temperatures and make sure the crude oil at the bottom of the boiler doesn't get too hot thereby damaging the aquatuner. This works by the end of the airlock being in contact with the crude oil heating up the airlock (and cooling the crude oil) while it's cooled down (relatively speaking) by the input water flowing across the top of it. This in turn also heats the input water up a tiny bit as well. With atmo-suits it's not really a problem clearing the dirt. You only have to do it like every 60-80 cycles or so, maybe less.. EDIT: Are you sure they can grab things through corners still? I think they fixed that a loooong time ago. You can deliver, build and deconstruct through a corner but I don't think you can pick up things anymore. Well, before posting about it I tested corner sweeping - but I tested by picking up from above not below. Its possible that grabbing from below does not work, yet I defiantly was able to clear derbies through a corner from above. I suppose I will begin construction without suits, I will possibly get them by the time I complete it. Oozinator
@Saturnus Nice idea for improved machine, with automation? Endless sand from rock crusher in automation pretty much killed the idea of making one in the first place. If you still have some distillation needs, I'd go with having it as a subsystem of a crude oil to natural gas converter.
