Change the way a tile/insulated tile looks by what material it's made off. This way the base looks a bit less drab, and we can easily see what kind of material something is made out of so we know wether we need to remake something due to material property needs for something or not easily without havng to hover over a ton of tiles just to see what they are made of. Yeah, I'd prefer an overlay that shows building materials. I like tiles looking uniform though. Having different kinds of tiles, you can 'decorate' the base to look nice.
