dupes acting stupidely with water

Recommended Posts

From time to time the dupes prefer to take water from spilled on tile.

The problem is that they only take 1kg at a time and so waste their time (and sometimes starve due to that)

Mopping the water force them to go further and then work better but it needs a lot of attention ... Any idea to fix it ?

That's the amount they use to water algae terrariums. Yes, they should probably use greater amounts but you can avoid that problem by placing the terrariums into some shallow water (they will draw it automatically) or by avoiding using terrariums at all. Terrariums have terrible performance, you need six of them to compensate CO2 production of one duplicant.

Build a large enough CO2 spill room at the bottom of your base and research air scrubber.

Ah no, I've seen them doing that for the microbe musher where a lot more is needed and doing a lot of trip sometimes the whole 8 dupes lot just doing water delivery to the microbe musher

Okay, you can set up a small pool of water next to your musher. Just a "well" of five tiles with a liquid vent at the bottom and route water to it - the vent should block when it becomes completely covered with water. Dupes may take the first deliver from afar but once they're at the musher, they will take the following deliveries from that pool.

To that I agree, the problem is when water is spilled on the ground they prefer to take very small amount from there than going to a better place to fetch it

Where they will go for the water depends on their position when they pick the delivery job. They always choose the closest place where the material is. If a dupe delivered some water to the musher and decides to go for more, he will again look for where's the closest water to the place where he's standing now. That's why it's good to have a well nearby.

I actually don't mind them doing a bit more running, when the up is that they will get the clean water from small puddles without destroying it. And they even effectively separate it from polluted one in mixed caverns.
