Digasd
I just wanna put here some ideas I had while analysing the murals from the metheus puzzle and ask for your opinion about them. @Fidooop made a similar post so I urge you to check it out for I will be talking about some tings he brings up: @Zeklo also has a great post and a great video from which I take a lot of ideas: In Greek mythology, Metheus appears in Prometheus and Epimetheus, two Titans whose respective names mean forethought and afterthought (in this regard metheus could translate to "thought" but I couldn't find a direct translation). Epimetheus was tasked with giving traits to living beings but, because he lacked forethought, when he got to the humans he was out of traits. Because of this Prometheus stole fire and intelligence from Athena's workshop to give to man. This caused Prometheus to be punished by the gods and chained to a mountain where a bird eternally eats his liver. With Greek mythology out of the way you can start to see some similarities in the story: The ancients were suffering from famine and disease (hinted at with the giant black holes in their chests) and so the king and queen, probably the smartest in their civilization, constructed the gateway as seen in this image: With this the ancients gained access to the nightmare fuel and all the advancements it brought, and the king sought to use this to solve their problems as seen here: You can also see the king reviving what appears to be a fuel weaver which means these are probably not the ancients themselves but old skeletons infused with nightmare fuel (but of course we can't know that for certain). There is also a three eyed skull that seems out of place besides the fact that the ancient fuel weaver has three eyes (opinions?). Also very interesting at the bottom you can see a black and white house of sorts that appear again in the next panel (ideas?). The next panel shows the shadows overrunning the ancients probably because of Them noticing what the ancients were doing (the giant eye in the middle). You can see the king succumbing to the shadows (his eyes are black) while the queen tries to protect him with the tragic torch. Around them you can see many ancients dying but also what appears as ancients turning into their statues counterparts with nightmare fuel coming out of their face. What's even more interesting is that they appear to be grasping items made from nightmare fuel (the carrots, the gems, the tools) almost as if their being mind controlled and living in an illusion made by Them so They can feed of their fear. Maybe that's why Wendy examines the statues as "A tormented soul" because they have been consumed and live a constant nightmare to feed Them The fourth and last mural depicts the king mourning over the fall of the queen and his people as they all die from too much nightmare fuel in their bodies. Maybe the king managed to close the gate but it's influence was already too big. Maybe the queen became the soul you revive as the fuel weaver and that's why she calls out Metheus, her husband, and why she tries to stop you opening the gate. Maybe the king is the fuel weaver. Maybe the king was the first to sit on Their throne but he refused to cooperate because he knew what they were capable of and couldn't abide by their plans and so they cast him out turning him into the soul you receive as the fuel weaver or maybe the ancient guardian that Maxuel meets before he is corrupted by the fuel. I know these are a lot of maybes, but that's why I wanted to make this topic so that I could hear what other people had to say. Add to my points or make your own but please be civil. Have you really never seen any of his hundreds of celebrity appearances on television shows, or in malls. Maybe you should try to not derail your own topic in the very first post.
