Stgerrit
Hey I am looking for a copy for a friend of mine. The problem I have is I live in South Africa and she in the United States, so if I buy it, even as a gift, it gets region locked. I also cant seem to find a copy on humblebundle or gog or somewhere else other than steam. So the alternate solution I came up with is to ask if someone wants to trade a copy for something that has similiar value, maybe something like a key or a skin or something? If you are interested in helping me out please let me know. Also if you have any other solution in terms of how I can get the game for here then please that advice is welcome. heckubis
or you could give your friend your copy and buy yourself another one. surely you understand we all bought our copies for ourselves and our friends we either love the game and wouldn't trade it or we wouldn't be here on the forums. sorry for your friends in ability to buy it

Insert_Name_Here
Couldn't you just Paypal the money to them? If they can't afford a $20 game they'd probably appreciate the money more. Not quite a 'Gift' but I'm sure your friend would understand...
applebottom
I feel your pain, OP. I went through the same thing for Don't Starve. It's not because they can't afford a game. Sometimes, you just think the game is cool and want them to try it but don't want them to buy in case they end up not liking the game. For Don't Starve, I bought copies from GOG. I don't know how to do it for ONI since it's still in alpha. Insert_Name_Here may be right about just sending them $$$ via paypal or buying Steam Wallet Code from a distributor in your country and sending your friend the code? It doesn't feel like a "gift" that way though Here's a list of Steam Wallet Code distributors: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=1193-WLXV-6514

The main reason she is sceptical of it is because it is early access, (and I dont blame her). But I went with your advice and bought her a steam wallet code. Thank you friend for the advice Regards Gerrit
PaulV
Maybe you could try connecting to a vpn in the states and then buy it as a gift through that. The region lock is probably there because the game is likely cheaper in South Africa than it is in the US, so you might have to pay more.
